Here at Hornby High we are trying to have a positive impact on our community. but to do this first we had to choose a topic that we had interest in. I chose Public Art because I think art can make people feel or think its just like how music is art and the artist can make people change even through movement other known as dance. I love that we had to work in groups that had a similar vision to your own. Were a group called 4 CIVILISED MEN that is made up of Kegan Buzz Kill Nathaniel Damien and myself Dasharn.
What we used to help us have a better understanding of our topic we used this website to help.
http://www.scapepublicart.org.nz/
Then we had to answer some Questions about our topic
The people which look at the art are the people effected in a good or bad way.
The people who like gangs and vandalised the streets by tagging gang tags are the issue for Public art.
Public art has been around for centuries and loved by many.
This is happening at the Warehouse, Hub, School or if they say no Mitre 10 or countdown
Why is happening Because people set their goals by saying " What will I do before I Die".
We want to help our community by think of possible goals jobs for the future.
this an update in our plan
These are the steps we are taking to archive our goal to finish our project.
Steps needed to achieve the goal.
|
What will help us achieve this goal?(Enablers)
|
Possible barriers and how they could be overcome.
|
Who is responsible for this step?
|
Date this step will be achieved by.
|
Email Mr Rogers to leave school grounds to do this.
Arrange the things we need
|
If everyone in our team pitches in.
Money
|
Try the next place if one says no if we are not allowed to leave school then we will ask to do it in chalk on a school wall.
|
Us ourselves are responsible
We will be trying to do this
|
The time it is finished
|
To talk to the students where is a good spot to do this in school grounds incase we are not allowed to leave school.
|
We will need permission
And chalk to do this.
|
If we had no chalk at the time we can wait till the next day.or if we can make up our minds we let everyone else choose.
|
Our group
|
When it's finished
|
We need a good spot that everyone can see.
People to Participate in the wall.
|
A plan that will show us information on the question we should do.
|
People say no and participation, the principle says no.
|
The group is.
|
When it is finished.
|
To set up the area that we are doing it in.
And put our plans in place by doing it.
|
Being organised for the project in hand.
|
No One wants to put their goals and others.
|
The group
|
When it's finished.
|
All possible barriers will be fixed when we get to it. now it's time to spread our love and happiness.
I really like how you explained what you and your group was doing and what the plan is and the back-up plan encase the first plan fails.
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteYou already know what we are doing cause your in our group Nathaniel
Hey Dasharn,
ReplyDeleteI really like the topic that you have chosen - Public Art is so cool and I like that you want to create a wall where people can write their goals. Your idea reminds me of all of the interactive public displays - there are some really cool ones on google or pinterest. I think one of my favourites was Candy Changs I wish this was "http://candychang.com/work/i-wish-this-was/". I look forward to seeing some images of what you have chosen to do!
Thank you
DeleteWe actually got the idea from Candy Chang before i die wall. We just wanted to do our own version of it "What will I do when I leave school"this a cool fun topic to do and we will be putting our plans into place in the future.
Kia ora Dasharn, I agree, public art can really make a difference. I am originally from the Bay of Plenty and noticed the difference public art displays have made for the town of KatiKati. The murals that have been created have also encouraged more events and visitors which has helped the community and local businesses. Because the art works tell the story of the town's history I have never seen any vandalism.
ReplyDeleteHope to see some of your creations and ideas shared here too,
I love that culture is key for New Zealand i just don't want these pieces to be ruined by people that like to graffiti. I agree that art tells a story when it is finished by the artist.
DeleteKia ora Darsharn,
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this learning journey started and I look forward to seeing more. Public art is a fantastic place to start. It can be a real mine field when looking at what sort of art to produce. You need to think carefully about the community and survey them to gain wider opinion before moving forward. A really great piece of art work can draw people into the region.
There's lots to take into account outside of opinion e.g. How expensive will it be? What is in place to minimise vandalism? Will it meet any bi-laws that apply?
Can't wait to see your artwork take shape.
James
Thanks
DeleteThe group and me love this topic we love this place we think it just needs a new vision to follow. A vision of the people with nice art work and no vandalising around our country.
Kia ora Dasharn, you have chosen an important topic for the 21st century. As cities loose more and more open spaces to buildings, art becomes increasingly important.
ReplyDeleteIn the suburb of Auckland I live in, Glen Innes, we have a number of lovely pieces of Public art and I notice that they do not seem to get tagged even though we have a lot of tagging in the neighbourhood.
I grew up near Tirau and it is a small rural township with lots of corrugated iron art work.
And as a child we used to love driving through Bulls on the way to the South Island as every property on the main drag had a 'bulls' related artistic sign.
What a great way to communicate and establish your point of difference.

Thanks
DeleteI agree that it is an important subject for the 21st century. I also like the different types of art. I don't think all tagging is bad it can be another form of art.
Hello Darshan,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that art can make a difference to people. I am wondering about what different people consider to be art. For instance is tagging art? Banksy is a graffiti artist in England who does not ask permission to put his art up and he is well regarded.
I look forward to seeing artworks from 4 Civilised Men.
Maria
Thank you,
DeleteIn the next couple weeks We will putting our plans and step in to place.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean it's alright be more specific.
DeletePlus your in my group to damien.
I LOVE this. I am very impressed with the work you and your group have done Dasharn. Do you have a theme you are focussing on or will it depend on the space you get to work in?
